Plywoods
Plywood is made of three or more thin layers of wood bonded together with an adhesive. Each layer of wood, or ply, is usually oriented with its grain running at right angles to the adjacent layer in order to reduce the shrinkage and improve the strength of the finished piece.
The outer layers of plywood are known respectively as the face and the back. The face is the surface that is to be used or seen, while the back remains unused or hidden. The center layer is known as the core. Plywood may be made from hardwoods, softwoods, or a combination of the two. We stock two grades of plywood, WBP Hardwood Plywood (Good Face) and Shuttering Plywood. Both plywoods are WPB (Water and boil proof) suitable for internal and external use with the only difference in the plywoods being the finish face. Good Face plywood is as the name suggests ideal for those finished jobs where the plywood will be on show or will be varnished. Shuttering plywood is more for hidden use where the face is not as good a quality finish but is cheaper to use.

WBP Hardwood Plywood
WBP Hardwood Plywood is one of the most commonly used boards across homes. Manufactured and designed with layers of thin sheets of wood veneer glued together using WBP adhesive and compressed. WBP Plywood's offer a high quality finish with a knot free surface, give you value for money without compromising on quality and are resistant to crackling, twisting and warping. They also offer reduced splitting when screwing or nailing and are rated with low expansion and shrinkage, making them stable when used in all dimension. Key Features
Application WBP Plywood is used for many purposes including; bath panelling, sheds, storage boxes, roofing, interior vehicle building, floors, walls and roofs in house constructions etc. WBP Plywood can also be used externally as long as the edges and the face of the board are preserved with a treatment. WBP Plywood can be easily cut to size using a handsaw or electric saw. It is also suitable for joinery and milling processes. Although WBP Plywood has great surface finish, it can be varnished or painted if required. |

Shuttering Plywood
Shuttering Plywood is manufactured from softwood, making it extremely light weight and strong. Softwood Plywood's are easy to work with when using conventional wood working tools and the face of the wood are lightly coloured which gives a pinewood effect and can be painted or varnished as required. High resistance to humidity also makes it suitable for projects where climate is an issue. Key Features
Application Softwood Plywood has many great uses to offer, including floors, walls and roofs as well as internal vehicle body work, packaging, fencing, cabinets, hoarding etc. Softwood Plywood can easily be cut to size using either a hand saw or electric saw. It accepts screws and nails well without splitting, wood adhesive can also be used to add extra strength. The face of the Softwood Plywood can be treated with a suitable water proofer where high moisture content may be an issue. Softwood Plywood can also be finished off with paint or varnish to suite the project. |
